Celebrate the holidays with Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council’s Artists of the Year, playing an all-new collection of seasonal songs!
Two-time Juno nominee The Once, a modern indie folk trio from Newfoundland, has collected a trio of Canadian Folk Music Awards and numerous East Coast Music Awards. With their folk roots still firmly in hand, Phil Churchill, Geri Hollett and Andrew Dale have embraced a distinctly-modern sound by the inclusion of drums and percussion, electric guitars, and sweeping keyboards, as well as a newly-inducted bassist. The group’s forthcoming album of holiday tunes is set for release this fall, just in time to tour its festive tidings!
About Brad Fillatre:
Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, amidst rugged coastlines and vast, uninhabited landscapes that entangle themselves in a young man’s creative conscience, Brad’s musical career began with him playing a guitar his mother bought him in the family’s backyard shed. By the time he moved to Toronto in 2005, he’d already written a collection of songs and formed The Evelyn Room, releasing a self-titled EP in 2008 and earning a reputation for charismatic live shows. After the band’s success at NXNE and at the XM Radio Verge Awards, Brad set out on his own and recorded his first solo EP For Your Weakness, released in 2012. Brad gained exposure through MTV, building international attention, and a dedicated fan base. His latest album Strangers was released in summer of 2016 and its eight tracks are sonically-rich and emotionally-driven.
