Malone's Grill Dows Lake Ottawa
1001 Queen Elizabeth Drive, Ottawa, Ontario K1S 5K7
Archbishop Paul-Andre Durocher (Gatineau) was a delegate to both the extraordinary assembly of the Synod of Bishops in 2014 and the Ordinary Assembly in 2015, both of which were dedicated to the topic of marriage and family life.
Archbishop Durocher will explain the history of the Synod of Bishops, how it functions, and his experience of both sessions. He will then present the apostolic exhortation Pope Francis wrote following those two synods, entitled “Amoris Laetitia," Latin for «The Joy of Love”. He will explain how the Pope’s text picks up on the bishops’ discussions, enriching them with his personal insights. Finally, Archbishop Durocher will show how this text can be used as a manual for all engaged and married couples and the challenges it contains as it calls us to understand, live out, and support the beauty of married love in our society.
Guests are welcome to arrive early for boating on Dow's Lake or drinks and dining at one of three fine restarants at the Pavilion and stay afterwards for fellowship. Summer rentals, from 9am-8pm, at Dows Lake Marina include canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, peddle boats, and rowboats (see link below for rates and details).
The parking lot is across the road on Prince of Wales Drive. Malone's will stamp your parking ticket for 2 hours of free parking, whether or not you purchase food or drinks. There is an OC Transpo bus stop just a 3 minute walk on Carling Street and busses arrive and depart frequently.
