WE ARE HOME!
After touring Ontario for our VERY FIRST EP, we are back in Ottawa and happy to be home — come celebrate with us and The Barrel Boys!
The Barrel Boys:
Established in 2012, The Barrel Boys are a 5-piece string band based in Toronto, Ontario. The band’s sound is built around rich vocal harmonies and virtuosic instrumentals, and their repertoire finely balances standard tunes with their own original writing. Their instrumentation lends itself to classic bluegrass, but they are also fluent in old time, classic country, and Americana, and their original material is informed by all of these styles. Furthermore, each of the 5 members writes and sings lead on their own tunes, making for a wide stylistic range within the band’s sound.
The Barrel Boys are: Nathan Smith (Fiddle); Rob McLaren (Banjo); Ben Wright (Guitar); Kyle Kirkpatrick (Dobro); and Tim O’Reilly (Bass)
Jessica Pearson and the East Wind:
After their first international tour throughout Ireland, Jessica Pearson and the East Wind released their first single “Think of Me” in late 2016, which reflected a blend of country roots, bluegrass and folk with an infusion of their newly acquired Celtic sound. The band’s music has been described as Nickel Creek meets Great Big Sea. Past performances include the Calgary Stampede, Toronto Ex and Mountain Man Festival. They have also played with Hillsburn, the East Pointers, Murder Murder and Ten Strings and a Goat Skin!
Early 2017, Jessica Pearson and the East Wind signed with Willow Sound Records and have officially released their debut EP 'Grave and Garden Songs.' The band consists of lead singer and guitarist Jessica Pearson, fiddle player Maddy O’Regan and double bassist Pat Bigelow. Jessica Pearson and the East Wind’s dynamic live shows take you on a journey through their lives with heart warming harmonies, the liveliness of maritime kitchen parties, and intimate traditional melodies.
