The Introspective Pervert: Self-Assessment for Kinksters
with Andrea Zanin
Monday August 21 7:30-9:30pm
$25 ($15 sliding scale)
This workshop is like a Buzzfeed quiz, only better… and kinkier! When kink is, or is becoming, a big part of your life, it can colour everything: your self-perception, your sexuality, your social life, even your career choices. Maybe you’re overwhelmed with everything you’re discovering. Maybe you’ve been at this a long time and are stuck in a rut. Maybe you feel like something’s missing, but you can’t quite put your finger on it. Or maybe you’re feeling great about all the kinky stuff you’re getting up to, and you want to take it even further… but what to do first? In this session, using a specially developed self-assessment grid, you’ll take a revealing look at your own wants and desires to help you clarify where you’re at in your kink journey: what’s working, what’s too much or not enough, and what to do about it all. The numbers don’t lie… are you ready to score?
Andrea Zanin has been writing and teaching internationally about BDSM/Leather/kink, power dynamics, non-monogamy and queer sexuality for over 15 years, and she endeavours to bring an awareness of privilege and oppression to all her work. Andrea’s writing has been published in numerous books, magazines and newspapers. She co-organizes the annual Canadian leatherdyke weekend An Unholy Harvest (Ottawa) and the annual one-day, all-genders queer M/s and D/s event Queering Power (Toronto), and runs a pervy book club called The Leather Bindings Society. She is pursuing a PhD in gender, feminist and women’s studies at York University with a focus on Canadian leatherdyke history. Andrea was named Toronto Leather Pride’s Woman of the Year 2014 and was awarded the Pantheon of Leather Canadian Award for 2016. She enjoys eating fine dark chocolate, drinking tea and wearing really nice shoes. Read her at sexgeek.wordpress.com

Venus Envy is a physically accessible space. We have an automatic door, no steps and a gender inclusive bathroom big enough for most mobility devices.
We use foldable, plastic chairs for our workshops, but we do have three softer chairs that we're happy to reserve for anyone who needs one. As we sell some scented products, we're unfortunately unable to guarantee that he workshop will be a scent-free space (though we do ask guests to refrain from wearing heavily scented products).
