Humans for Peace Institute and the Ottawa Chinese Canadian Heritage Centre with Arabesque Band are organizing an event “Syrians for Peace”. This event is being organized with the vision to help improve the connections between the Syrian refugee community and mainstream society in Ottawa. As the vast majority of Canadians have welcomed Syrian refugees to the country with open arms and hearts, we wanted to have a way to enable Syrians in Ottawa to give back to the larger community.
The event will feature a night of Syrian culture with performances from:
-Local Syrian band (Arabesque) (Ticket On Sale Now)
-Children for Peace will perform Syrian dance and songs
-Dancing group performing traditional Dakbeh
-Traditional Syrian dishes sale made by Ladies for Peace
-Art exhibit featuring children’s and youth art with an auction to be held at the end of the event.
250 tickets will be sold to the general public.
The proceeds from “Syrians for Peace” ticket and food sales will be donated to Canadian Blood Services, while proceeds from the art auction will be donated to the Ottawa Inuit Children’s Centre.
