Naughty dog behaviours such as bolting out doors, leash pulling, chasing animals, jumping up on furniture, counter surfing, attention barking, nipping, jumping up, herding children or other pets, taking food roughly, grabbing or stealing toys, broken start lines or stays, off course obstacles, sniffing, and marking in the ring….are some of the most common pet dog, and sport dog problems, reported to dog trainers. These behaviours are incredibly frustrating, and have the potential for serious consequences to their owner, or the dog themselves.
Naughty dog behaviours are most often genetically programmed – herding dogs herd and nip – or simply a product of being a dog that needs to fulfill basic needs – eat, chew, play. This workshop will help you understand what drives your dog, and how to use what drives him to bring him under control.
Through the power of PERMISSION we will help you teach your dog how to be a model citizen in your home, or a rock solid superstar in the sports ring. You will be presented with the foundation game of “It’s Yer Choice” (a training method developed by Susan Garrett of Say Yes Dog Training) and be shown how to grow that game and take it into real life scenarios and the training ring.
This workshop will provide an excellent head start on the next two workshops in this series: “Crate Games” & “Winter Agility Handling Indoors”.
** IMPORTANT: This group workshop is not appropriate for dog who resource guard (freeze, growl, snap or bite). This training can be discussed during a private behavioural consultation with a qualified Best Friends trainer.
