_ABOUT FUSION DANCING_
The latest offering from Smoothstyle Dance Studio brings a new partner-dance experience to Ottawa. Our goal is to create a collaborative, creative environment for self-expression within partnership. Have fun, improve your connection, partnering, and improvisational creation skills through fusion dancing.
Fusion dance is a contemporary style of lead-follow partner dance that combines different styles to create a new aesthetic. It is improvised and draws from but does not conform to any specific defined dance style(s). The common qualities of fusion are intent listening, awareness, responsiveness, and creativity.
“What would happen if you came to a partner dance with no expectations – just to listen and be heard? What would happen if you and your partner knew how to speak and listen the language of movement beyond patterns? What would happen if the roles of ‘leading’ and ‘following’ blended together, flowing in and out of each other moment to moment?” — North Bay Fusion
