Join us for an evening of crafts, music, and soft feelings in support of the Ottawa-Rape-Crisis-Centre!
From 7:30-9 pm, Montreal-based artist Ambivalently Yours will be hosting a collaborative drawing and zine-ing workshop, focusing on the hard feelings of loneliness, isolation, and invisibility. Together, workshop participants will use art and conversation to think through how we can support each other and care for ourselves in these often gloomy times. The workshop cost is $20.00, and can be paid for in-store (cash only). There is a 20 participant limit, so come in asap and book your spot ahead of time!
From 9 pm-12 am, the main floor will open up for local women and gender non-binary artists to display and sell their work.DJs SeiiizMikk and Oh Jay will be spinning good vibrations all evening and a crafting table available for those who want to dance or draw (or both!) Entry to the art show case and dance portion of the evening will be a Pay-What-You-Can donation to the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre.
We recognize that this event is taking place on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg people.
Unfortunately, Black Squirrel Books is physically inaccessible for folks who use wheelchairs and other mobility devices. There is a set of 10 stairs leading down to the basement where the washrooms are located and where the workshop will be held. Personal support workers attend free of charge for both the workshop and the art showcase. If you need assistance or accommodations at any point, please send us a direct message.
We are looking forward to sharing the evening with you!
