13:00 - 15:00

 Facebook event page
Mackenzie King Bridge, Ottawa, On
The World Day for the End of Fishing asks for the abolition of fishing and fish farming for fishes, crustaceans and cephalopods. Together with PETA, we will participate in this worldwide action and speak up for our aquatic friends.

— Join us for our March day of action where we will raise the issue of fishing.

Peta is donating a net that will be attached to a frame with a banner, as well as signs and leaflets

We will also be showing footage of the fishhing industry

The objective of this protest will be to create a powerful display that raises the issue of fishing and calls on others to speak up for marine animals

— Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) is a grassroots network of animal rights activists working to create a world where every animal is safe, happy and free. Through community building, open rescue, and disruptive protest, we are building a strong movement for animals.

I am a flyfisherman and lover of animals.  However I also eat meat and love that too. I release most of the fish I catch.  I also live in the woods and am a keen observer of nature.  Wild animals show no signs except when they are very young of being «happy».  They are never free of predation which means they are never safe.  Fish on the lower scale of awareness also show little sign of ever being «happy». They are never safe, nor free either.  The whole premise of your organization is false unless you are protesting «over-fishing» which is always a concern to everyone.

I am also a fly fisherman, i fly fish with barbless hooks, i never kill or keep any fish i catch, catch and release everything and take great care to keep them wet and in the water at all times, only take photos and help clean up the environment taking out litter that others have left behind. Fly fishing is a terribly expensive hobby and as such i invest a great deal of money back into local businesses such as cottages, local guides, sporting good stores to name a few.  Without fishing i would no longer be supporting any of these people, places or businesses.  That money would dry up and the jobs it supports would also vanish.  I am against the banning of fishing.  It gets young people outside and not in front of video games and computers and gets them to be social and involved in our communities.
I do support fly fishing with barbless hooks only and seasonal fishing where fish are protected for the most part of the year.  I support catch and release only fishing.  No kill of fish.
I believe fishing is important to teach the young about nature and life cycles.
i do not hunt, i am a lover of animals and fish and only take photos and take nothing but give a lot back to nature and the economy.  Taking that away from people such as myself is also taking it away from those how never fish, by removing value money from the economy to support families and business of all types.
