WHAT NOW? Resisting neoliberalism after the Ontario election

LOCATION: To Be Announced

The June 7 Ontario election has dramatically shifted the political terrain in Ontario.

What should we do now to fight Ford and the agenda he represents? What are the deeper systemic issues facing people in Ontario and what we can collectively do about them in the new political landscape? What kinds of political organizing are needed now to continue building resistance to neoliberalism?

While many people haven’t heard the term neoliberalism, its many faces have been wreaking havoc around the globe for decades. Neoliberalism is an adaptable array of capitalist policies and strategies to shift wealth to the 1% from everyone else, through so-called free trade agreements, austerity cuts to public services, privatization, and deregulation.

Doug Ford wants to accelerate these attacks on the public good, but whether he succeeds is up to all of us and we do collectively to change the system. Now is the time to organize for an Ontario, and a world, beyond neoliberalism and capitalism.
