Called “…..the most gifted composer of his generation…..” by the renowned conductor and composer Sir David Willcocks, John Rutter’s music is performed around the world and is regularly part of the repertoire of virtually every choir in North America.
Joining Mr. Rutter for this concert will be three superb choirs: The Elmer Iseler Singers, the Capital Chamber Choir, and the Ottawa Children’s Choir.
Thirteen Strings, augmented by some of Canada’s top wind and brass players will also perform.
Ottawa’s Kerson Leong, one of the most outstanding young violinists of his generation will perform Rutter’s “Visions”, a work for solo violin, strings, harp and choir that was written especially for him. The major piece on the program will be John Rutter’s “Magnificat“, possibly the greatest of his large-scale works. The remainder of the program will feature a range of shorter works by John Rutter.
The London Evening Standard wrote, “...for the infectiousness of his melodic invention and consummate craftsmanship, Rutter has few peers.”
